obama is just too cool as a republican and they cant stand him

Obama has done a good job staking out the middle position. That's why we aren't seeing Mitt running away with the nomination. People are asking - Hey isn't this guy just our brand of Obama? What is resulting for this is the Republican fringe elements are seeking out power. Ron Paul , Rick Santorum - fringe elements. Newt - no one's really sure what he is, let alone himself.
