Don't forget that several of the early prime ministers of Israel were terrorists and the IRA was a terrorist organization, but that doesn't mean that old terrorists can't go legit. Once you've won, you aren't a terrorist any more. That's the way the world works. Like, Iraqi's who kill US troops are "terrorists" even though killing the troops of an occupying army is not terrorism but a right to self defense. Otherwise Red Dawn would have been a movie glorifying terrorism.

There is a real meaning to the word "terrorism" and then there is the political usage where it is simply a slur, like "socialist" or "liberal". It makes name calling sound pseudo-intellectual but it's actually anti-intellectual - a brainless knee-jerk put-down divorced from meaning.

It's that suppression of thought that has allowed the last 8 years to happen. Hopefully thinking will come back into fashion, but we can't count on that.

Here's an interesting debate quote from McCain

'After we helped the Afgan Freedom Fighters' -- he couldn't bring himself to admit we supplied and trained the Mujahideen, Islamic extremists. He does say that the US washed our hands of the 'Freedom Fighters' and the result was the Taliban and Al Qaida.

Sounds to me like McCain is blaming America for creating terrists.

Maybe he ain't so dumb.

But I have realized now what the Fox story was about. Because they are linking Obama to the PLO this is an attempt to pry Jewish voters (largely Democrat leaning and funding) away from Obama. It's just more race baiting. White vs Black : Jew vs Arab (except that Jew isn't a race, but you know what I mean).
 
I think you hit the nail on the head - with only a few days to go the desperation hangs heavy in the air
