This is such complete bunk. The USDA has been charged at the task of food safety in the US. There's nothing new under Obama this has been done for decades.

Monsanto writes it - a bunch of asleep at the switch representatives pass it (apparently because Monsanto was better at getting them to pass it than the people were at getting them to stop it), the President signs it on the theory it's what the people want because their representatives passed it and Obama is the only one that leaves fingerprints.

Should he have signed it? I don't think so. It's another big business friendly bill AND it infringes on people's ability to live independently of big agri-business if they want to.

However, there is a lot of blame to go around.

It was signed when democrats controlled both houses of congress IIRC.

I'd love to back you up red but the article appears to have very little to do with S510. “the felony crime of processing milk without pasteurization” We see related news back in 2007 (aka-before Obama) where this happened under Bush. http://www.time.com/time/health/article/0,8599,1598525,00.html As the article says here the US Federal government -- banned interstate sales of raw milk 20 years ago.

This conversation simply goes to where government has value in society and when. We ban poisons from food. Arsenic salted food not a good thing. At what point is a poison slow acting or minimal effecting enough to no longer be considered a hazard? http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_16001821

If you read up on these raids it was not just raw milk and cheese. The federal thugs seized money and took all inventory of fruit and vegetables to be destroyed. You really should read the links to all these stories, it is pretty frightening.

There is still a lot of blame to go around. Monsanto wrote it and you didn't stop it. The buck stops with the people. You get the government you deserve.

We didn't stop it? As you stated, it was quietly rushed through. I would support any effort to repeal that unconstitutional abortion as it ranks amongst the greatest threats to humanity in the history of USA.

It wasn't that quiet. It wasn't advertised by the government but there were people trying to organize and publicize this but no mass organization was able to come to the fore. Given the choice people didn't want to hear about a bad bill in the house, but rather how the Casey Anthony trial was going or what film star was getting hitched to / dumped by what other film star - or who is beating whom in football/baseball/basketball.

The noise machine keeps cranking out ice-cream so people won't eat their vegetables. Works like a charm too.
