After a second-place finish to Mitt Romney in Tuesday's New Hampshire primary, Texas Rep. Ron Paul portrayed himself as the one alternative to Republican front-runner Romney.

Ron Paul's 2nd place win is clearly due to independent voters. I think the Republican support for Paul is still very weak. SC will likely be a different story here.

Romney's win is clearly due to ignorant voters. The question going into SC is how many idiots are there.

Here's a clue: All the options suck. Just because your favorite is getting 2nd place doesn't mean there's a conspiracy (although it was far more plausible when he was trailing the pack by a huge margin). Too bad he's too old for the next round in 4 years, although I'd say he's too old for this round as well.

That isn't the basis of the suspicion. And it's not stuff like someone repeatedly bringing out racist remarks made someone who wrote something for a publication that had Ron Paul's name at the top of the page. That's normal political mud slinging. It really starts smelling like a coordinated effort to marginalize Ron Paul when he gets only 48 seconds in the debates and generally doesn't get mentioned at all even when he polls well. Ron Paul gets reported on the news far too often as in the following clip:

Paul's polls were in and around the 20s and yet he doesn't get a mention. Considering how enormously influential TV coverage is in these races that is a huge political boost to Romney and a huge deficit to the Ron Paul campaign. This is an example of the networks taking sides and it is incredibly blatant. Romney gets money from Wall Street and he is an insider himself. Paul gets money from small donors and especially military personnel. The TV networks know which side to pander too to keep in good with the money men but it's not just that - the party machines both have deep hooks into the media (simply because of how important it is in campaigns) and they don't want people to realize that Paul is an option.

Call it a conspiracy if that makes it seem less real but in real life there are interests and agendas and they show.

That's very interesting about CBS, but here's the email notification that was sent to my email address:

CNN projects that Texas Rep. Ron Paul will finish in second place and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman third in the New Hampshire Republican primary, based on exit polls and early returns.

With 18% of precincts reporting, projected first-place finisher Mitt Romney leads the field with 36% of the vote.

Not only does CNN mention Ron Paul first, but mentions the winner, Mitt Romney, in the middle of the post. Is there an anti Mitt Romney conspiracy at CNN?

It isn't conspiracy when it is done out in the open. Until recently Ron Paul would not get mentioned at all to the point it was comical. Now Ron Paul is getting some mentions but mostly accompanied with smears.

If there is a conspiracy, it's most likely against the Mormon.

Hardly, he has essentially denounced his beliefs on TV. The only ones mad at Romney are actual strict Mormons. Before the 2008 election I was roomed with a Mormon at my company's Engineering Conference. He was mad with Romney because Romney stated he would not let his religion dictate policy or use the presidency as a platform to evangelize. Plus you have Glenn Beck spending the last few years trying to convince his audience that Mormons are really moderates when it comes to religion.

Yes, a crackpot religion who openly flouted the separation of church and state and as far as I know is the only religion in US history to be tried for such is using as it's messenger Glenn Beck to show how moderate it is...

Red, this was an absolute gift and I truly thank you for it, I'll be chuckling for hours on this one. Cheers matey!
