It would be "treasonous" if Chairman Ben Bernanke tried to use Federal Reserve policy to stimulate the economy before the election, Texas Governor Rick Perry said at a campaign stop in Iowa.

Of course the Republicans believe that because it'd hurt their chances. Boehner stated his and the Republicans #1 priority is to ensure Obama is not reelected. Economy or jobs be damned.

It would be treasonous to try to overthrow or destroy the government, not to support or oppose a president. Dismantling the government or starving the government or undermining the government by by causing it to be unable to function, pay its bills or lose its prestige among other governments are all rather more treasonous.
