Perseid meteor shower this weekend: how to get the best view

I wish I could get a good view of these but there's too much light where I live
 
i am 4 town sized blocks mebbe 5 from an unlit golf course and darkness... it is a pretty clear night out so i think im going to stay up for a bit... saw one twenty minutes ago when i was washing truck bed out...
 
I was lying on the roof around 02:00 and saw about 6 in forty minutes or so. Best one of the night wasn't even a Perseid.
 
i can actually sit on my garden shed and see most of the stuff... the leonid (i think?) was an awesome barrage with hundreds of particles dropping per hour... I saw what i thought was part of it but more likely part of shooting star type deal... notta
 
im gonna get some beer and try again once i get back from salina... 3 hrs of driving... secured nice aquarium for "indoor mantis" (robbed tank from old zenith tv aquarium i made 20 yrs ago...lol)
 
well i just got home... gonna try again... hope i get to see something tonight....
 
i am up... friggin meteors are not... thank gawd my mantis is hanging with me... he seems to like drinking droplets of water off of my arm... eww... even i wouldnt do that... no tellin where my arm has been.... :D it is breedin season... hahahahahahaha!
 
still nothin... ugh... kinda sucks... dogs were absolutely sure something was going on, i was involved, they were missing it.... but honestly.. i saw nothing... i have a kind of decent bushnell telescope too.... nothing...:( at least i have an indoor mantis...
