"I'm A Dinner Jacket" couldn't run again so he's riding off into the sunset and in his place the people have chosen Rawhani.

As for Rouhani, he seems like a good pick. Better than that other idiot. Unfortunately he got elected at the wrong time, but I hope I'm wrong. He probably doesn't have the power to do anything about Iran's nuclear strategy and probably doesn't have the time to affect relations with the West. If Israel does strike Iran it'll be under his watch and his moderate views will likely be thrown out the window. But like I said, I hope I'm wrong.

Does any elected position have the power to change policy? Look at Obama - same foreign policies under him as under the guy before - spying, propaganda and aggression against powers independent of the US.

On the other hand, I don't think that he would want to change the nuclear policy - which is peaceful officially and to all good evidence - though a fear based campaign has convinced many that Iran provides and existential threat. Actually, anyone able to stand up to the US actually IS an existential threat because the US world position is currently supported by the perception that they can do whatever they wish. The worst thing a tyrant can do is allow someone to stand up to them and get away with it.

Regardless, it will painted as Iran's own fault by the BBC and the majority of the British press.
Of course, if Iran somehow managed to strike Israel, that too would be painted as Iran's fault.
