The Washington Monument was closed indefinitely as engineers study damage and ways to repair cracks at the top of the capital's iconic structure caused by the 5.8-magnitude earthquake that rattled the East Coast this week.

they should put these buildings on rollers. I'm not kidding. there's a number of buildings in LA on rollers and I worked in one during the 1994 quake. I felt the building roll around during an aftershock. weird, but better than feeling a building sway and crack
 
But Allah put a big crack in the phallus of the great satan on the day they declared they had defeated Gaddafi. You think rollers could work against Allah? (plus, do we really need a giant phallus on rollers scooting about the countryside the next time there's a quake?)

this hurricane will happen over the weekend so people will not be traveling to work
there will be lots of flooding in NJ, because NJ always has floods
 
One interesting thing I didn't know is the monument is topped with aluminum. Because aluminum was difficult to mine and smelt at the time it was worth more than gold.
