Not at all. The current Iranian leaders are about as right wing as the neo-cons which ran the White House through Bush Jr. If you haven't noticed, it's usually conservatives that cause all the big problems in the world. Al-Qaeda, Iran, Syria, Taliban, Saudi Arabia, Israel and Gaza Strip are all lead by hard core conservative nut jobs. And although conservatives in Israel and the US don't actively bash homosexuals, there certainly are conservative groups that wish they could. See R.L. Bentham's post for an example.
