Racist Rants of a Liberal

Racism is often the last resort of a liberal.
We saw an example of this from comedian Janeane Garofalo, who wouldn't deserve attention as an analyst unless she provided such a perfect example of liberal racism. It came in an interview where she was talking about GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain.
Take a listen: "Herman Cain is probably well liked by some of the Republicans because it hides the racist elements of the Republican Party. Conservative movement and Tea Party movement, one in the same."
This is racism pure and simple. It implies that Cain is either an idiot, or a willing participant in a fraud to cover up racism among conservatives. It also implies that African Americans need white liberals to tell them what they should think. Those African Americans who refuse to bow to the rules of the liberal plantation are either idiots or sell outs.
That a second-rate comedian would pass such judgment on a man who has had such an extraordinary career as a Navy mathematician, a Fed governor and a successful businessman should probably not be taken seriously. But it just got under my skin -- as racism always does.

The problem with racism is that one projects the supposed deficiencies of one person over an entire race. Sorta like how that above author projects the supposed deficiencies of ONE liberal comedian over an entire political spectrum. It's like saying all men think and act just like Andrew Dice Clay.

Problem is even before the Tea Party, the Republican party in general has been accused of being racist. You are correct, Liberal democrats project their racism on the right and the tea party.

Current serving representatives that are black 42. Democrat 40 / Republican 2
There is a somewhat obvious imbalance there.
There are 535 voting representatives and so black representatives are about 8% (which isn't too far off of their 12% of the population). But, as you can see, the republican party really is very white.

The prison population is very black.

10.4% of the entire African-American male population in the United States aged 25 to 29 was incarcerated

Only democrats in prison?

by far the largest racial or ethnic group—by comparison, 2.4% of Hispanic men and 1.2% of white men in that same age group were incarcerated. According to a report by the Justice Policy Institute in 2002, the number of black men in prison has grown to five times the rate it was twenty years ago. Today, more African-American men are in jail than in college. In 2000 there were 791,600 black men in prison and 603,032 enrolled in college. In 1980, there were 143,000 black men in prison and 463,700 enrolled in college.

I am only quoting this to make a point. Anyone who points out prison statistics are called racists, but people pointing out disproportionate number of blacks in the Democrat party are not?

Let people be themselves without pulling the race card when losing an argument.

Huh? Not sure what you're trying to say here. You'd be a racist if you used the prison data to paint a generalization about black people. You would not be a racist if you used the prison data to show that there's something wrong with US justice/laws. Data is just data, it's what you do with it that counts.

Btw, has it ever occurred to you that there may be a link between a high prison rate and a low political rate amongst any one group?

The prison population is very black.
If you are Troy Davies and there is considerable doubt that you were the one who killed a cop - you are executed.
If you are Casey Anthony and it's pretty compelling that you did kill your daughter then you get off.

Of course, money plays a factor too, as O.J. knows.

So, what could be the reason for the increase in black men in jail? Could it be three strikes putting people away for ever for petty offenses? Black kid with a dooby, white kid with a dooby - wanna guess which of them is more likely to get charged and which one to get let go?

Having watched the interview where she makes the comments, I have to say that whilst badly worded imho, I think there is a lot of stock in what she was saying. To call her a racist for pointing out that having someone like Cain present is inherently useful for doing or saying things that would stand out as racist seems... Disingenuous.

Likewise stating that women standing for the Republican party is inherently against their best interests is not sexist.

Clearly Jeanne acused the GOP of being racist. While this might be a type of discrimination, as I imagine there are a few GOPers that aren't racist, the action here on Jeanne's part was clearly not racist.

Garofalo's argument:
If Obama isn't supported by Republicans, it’s evidence of racism.
if Cain does get support among Republicans, that’s also racism.

Circular Logic

While I imagine there are a few progressives that aren't retarded, the thinking here on Garofalo's part is clearly retarded.

Metalman. I'd agree with you. Though my point was calling this a 'racist rant' is unfair. Clearly what Garofalo stated was not a racist rant. Perhaps a discriminatory rant about republicans would be a more fair title.

Herman Cain says there's no need to audit the Fed.
(Hope that wasn't racist of me)
