None of that would have happened if the musicians were armed.

You really going there in an entertainment thread?

Since you went there... You did see the murder of the rapper happened in Brazil, didn't you? Did you read the news item? For the record Brazil passed extremely harsh gun laws in 2002. Those gun laws did not stop this rapper from getting murdered, did it?

Note there's also murder laws and they did not stop the rapper from being murdered. Using the right-wing 'logic' that we must therefore do away with all gun laws then we must conclude we must also do away with all murder laws.

What I said was meant to be amusing more than anything. It's a stupid thing to say when someone shoots up a kindergarten class too, but people said it and they weren't joking which is the sad part. I was just demonstrating how ridiculous that argument is - we can't all always be armed so it's not a plausible defense (and it fails for other reasons too, but that's another thread).

Well, since you went there... There are laws and there is enforcement. Brazil has plenty of good laws, just not much in terms of law enforcement. Not many third world nations have a police force equal in quality to the FBI. Brazil is one of those nations that send the military out to certain neighborhoods because the regular police couldn't match the firepower of the locals. I think it's fare to say that there are certain parts of Brazil that are completely out of the control of any national or provincial government, authority or law. This makes your point kinda moot.
