Religion confers morality

There has recently been discussion (again) around here about such things as "is there morality without religion", are sexual preferences innate or are they moral choices, and we might as well throw in "should customs be able to look through your laptop at the airport" - so here now, a story that packs a lot in - (and I'm putting it under religion because this forum is generally pretty slow) - Pedo Porn Priest sentenced to time served.

Here at work someone left a news paper laying around and as I flipped through it I found an article that said that access to child porn actually reduces the likelihood of a pedophile abusing a child. I only read the first paragraph or so, so I can't really comment on that really.

Similar studies suggest access to porn reduces the incidence of rape. The problem is however the production of child porn necessitates the abuse of a child to begin with.
