Scott touts property tax cut bill at South Florida water district where job cuts anticipated

The law, which Scott officially signed on May 26, gives lawmakers oversight of the state's five water management districts.
It also caps the amount of property taxes that the districts can collect. For the South Florida Water Management District, that means a 30 percent drop in property taxes it can collect in 2012.
Statewide the cuts will save homeowners and businesses $210.5 million and create a favorable tax and regulatory climate for businesses eyeing Florida, Scott said.
"The most important thing to creating jobs is lowering taxes," he said. "We've had great success in job creation."

This may make most of you cross eyed with indifference, but the SFWMD (South Florida Water Management District) is about the most wasteful and crooked as you could imagine. It is fitting this was signed in Palm Beach County where I lived for one year, had ~$200 water bills on average and even had one $900 water bill which took forever to win a dispute.

The SFWMD is also known for the fact that they drain down Lake Okeechobee during times of heavy rain so they can claim a historic drought during times of below average rain (while raising rates of course, rates that always go up and not down).

Speaking of dumb water happenings. Oregon drains 8 million gallons of water after a man pees in it The majority of people's pee is sterile and this should't be a problem. And even if it was this makes 16 ounces of pee or .125 gallon to 8 million gallons of water. A 64 million : 1 ratio -- the only I can imagine is Homeopaths are running the water in Oregon.

Wow!!! How stupid can these idiots be??? :whack: If they are not concerned about it being open to wild life, why are they worried about one man's pee? How many birds swim and poo in that?

I really have a hard time if that story is true. I think there is more than that. It is either a toxic spills or another way to raise more money from the tax payers.
If the man really is the cause they should charge the man the cost of clean up. And no the tax payers shouldn't pay. They should be insured against business loss and that insurance company should pay.

BTW yes it is too early to ask if he is the best ever, but I like him more and more ever day. Rick is doing everything he said he would do, unlike >99% of all politicians ever elected. He is going after the utilities and the oversight, which have always been in the politicians back pocket. Rick standing up to FPL and SFWMD is almost unheard of and already have me really appreciating the guy. Here's hoping he keeps on the same track.

Hope they have restrooms for all the little fishies and diapers for the ducks ROFL

The Romans’ toothpaste was human urine. Urine as the only active ingredient used in toothpaste and mouthwash up to the mid 18th century.
