And cry foul because they're earmarked as political groups . Which is honestly what they are. These groups are involving themselves in political candidate and issue selection.

To keep politics and religion separate Churches don't pay taxes, and can't play in politics. They can talk about issues but can't approve particular candidates or parties. These Churches are playing foul of the rules. And IMO have been for quite some time.

That being said I'm all for Churches who want to involve themselves in politics. You're formed of citizens and should be welcome to be political But, you all have to abide by the same rules as any other organization. Pay the price of entry into politics - we call them taxes.

If I wasn't so lazy, I'd search Whyzzat archives for you arguing the other way when reilgious groups were supporting Obama.

The Supreme Court has interpreted the United States Constitution to construct laws regulating the actions of the law enforcement community. Under "color of law", it is a crime for one or more persons using power given to him or her by a governmental agency (local, state or federal), to willfully deprive or conspire to deprive another person of any right protected by the Constitution or laws of the United States. Criminal acts under color of law include acts within and beyond the bounds or limits of lawful authority.

Progressives believe that Obama, is the super duper smartest smarty that ever smarted, the master of Chicago crook county cronie politics, yet he is totally ignorant of any matters concerning the IRS, AP, Benghazi, Fast & Furious, EPA, NLRB, State Department ...

If it was it is likely a tongue in cheek comment.

Cites on the Internet say that as of 2009 there were just over 93,000 employees in the IRS. What 'top' is what the dude in the trenches thinks that 'top' can be two very different things. Let's reflect back to the Reagan EPA which is somewhat similar, in so far as there was selected treatment based on politics. There was no direct connection made to the true top, Reagan, but to the line worker the 'top' was cause as higher ups were involved in politicking.

The problem resides that the Gov is huge. And it's run people. Sometimes people have their own agendas or don't care. This goes for any large agency - business, churches, etc. So having an unnamed and supported source make claims is great. That there's any real validity there can only be determined with evidence.

...
That being said investigate away. If there is something questionable part of Congress's job is to get to the bottom of those questions. However, I still don't see any illegalities that Fox News, Republicans, or anyone else can name happened here. Heck even Republican Sen Casey knows this. He claimed the misconduct would rise to the level of an illegal activity. You have to read what he didn't say - what he didn't say was this as illegal. With the information we have available to date this was, perhaps immoral. Being there was what appears to be skirting of laws by about 82% of the Tea Party groups audited, it perhaps was a good stereotype use for selection.

Seemingly the IRS ignored the most influential Political groups This to me says that Obama was unlikely to be the cause and instead it was actors within the agency. The 'top', if you would, that's under Obama.

you know... a good deal of appointed republicans were left in place during an administrative change, and the leftovers frequently sandbag the new administration with a variety of dirty tricks... seen it happen puhlenty of times when i was in the army...

Bush used IRS, FBI, CIA, and Secret Service against opponents ... So here's my question will the GOP do the right thing and create rules so no one can do this. Or is it a witch hunt against Obama. ... Okay not really a question because if it was a bet my money would be on the witch hunt.

i actually got a visit from either the secret service or the fbi during the bush years, they wouldnt say other than they were with the government. guy actually looked like one of the spooks i served with in iraq. i had voluntarily added my name to a petition to be added to the no fly list... (i don't fly anyway). being prior service i was told made me a "concern". the questioning lasted for two (ish) hours and covered a wide range of subjects (and was recorded)... including whether i would participate in the overthrow of the government...i looked at the six foot six behemoth of a man standing there with his "retired navy seal" hat and said only this... "against all enemies, foreign and domestic"... lol

IRS they didn't audit enough BINGO! It appears about 175 of these groups were audited, problems were found, but the IRS never recommended nor took further action. .. And I'll add in my previous 2 cents that if nothing else this shows us that the audits should be expanded to more groups.

The audit “determined that the majority of the 296 potential political cases we reviewed included indications of significant political campaign intervention.” This means that the majority reviewed were engaging in activities that warranted a review under the law.
the IRS following the law! imagine that!
