"Conservative talk-show host Rush Limbaugh said this week he’d go to Costa Rica for medical treatment if Congress passes proposed reforms to the US healthcare system"

Rush has devoted himself to a system that's one of the oldest socialized medical systems on the planet. See even Republican talking heads love socialism.

Of course like the other stuff he says he'll fail to actually do anything except for take the $ and run of course.

I know you meant to be (politically / satirically) funny but I believe that Rush may have a point and I would applaud him if he seeks future medical treatment in Costa Rica. They have a surprisingly (up and coming) capable medical system where lots of retirees go. Given the slick maneuver the Democrats successfully just suckered the American public into, Costa Rica may see a lot of American $$. :)

And as a minor correction, Costa Rica while indeed having a very socialized "universal" health care system (complete with long waits and standard red tape) also has a very good private health care system for those who can afford it. Link here. To borrow the relevant portion:

" Many of the country's highly trained physicians and some dentists work in the mornings for the CCSS and operate their own offices and clinics in the afternoons and evenings. While private health care in Costa Rica is more expensive than that offered by the same doctors and surgeons through the CCSS, the price is still far below that of the average office visit in the U.S. For example, a private office visit to almost any medical specialist costs around $40. Continued treatments for diagnosed problems will vary, but will almost always be considerably less than comparable treatment in the United States. Dental work, too, is provided at a much lower cost than in the U.S.--prompting a phenomenon known as “health tourism.”

Two well-known private hospitals, Clinica Biblica and Clinica Catolica, where many CCSS doctors practice in the afternoons and evenings, offer first-class, ultra-modern services. Affiliated with U.S. hospitals, these two private providers have costs somewhat higher than the public providers but still considerably below anything found in the U.S. " I'm pretty sure Rush was speaking about this portion of the Costa Rica health care system. 8)

considering the fact that rush is one of the hypocritical abusers of 'health care' - by taking an enormous amount of drugs - what he does is always suspect.

Medical tourism already exists. The high costs of medical insurance push people outside the US for care. Why? The quality is just as good, and better in many cases, then what they will get here while the costs are less.

Which people as wealthy as Rush can always afford to pay it all out of pocket and for the best care no matter the location.

I'm pretty sure Rush was speaking about this portion of the Costa Rica health care system.
I wonder if Costa Rica has looser medical drug laws. Perhaps Rush can get all the oxycotin he wants.

Some take even better action. Contribute to a Rush ticket. No, not the band. Outta Here.
