Rwanda's poo-powered prisons

Being Rwandan prisoners, their power needs are quite low but it shows what can be done with some relatively low tech and a regimented collective.

On the other hand, it isn't exactly unique.

Electricity from biogas in India.
Spain could get 7% of its needs from sewage biogas.
Sewage gas to electricity by fuel cell.

But our energy "needs" are much greater and our infrastructure more complicated (different parts with different owners, all with their own conflicting motivations and vested interests). Simple ideas die in politics because simplicity undermines power.

However, sewage plants in the UK are offsetting some of their power requirements from poo that comes to them for free.

How much have they reduced their food needs by using Soylent Green?
