SAVE NET NEUTRALITY

Net Neutrality IS free speech.

Short Article by Franken

Meanwhile Google and Verizon have been having their own talks on "Net Neutrality".

According to the New York Times, the agreement between Google and Verizon "could allow Verizon to speed some online content to Internet users more quickly if the content's creators are willing to pay for the privilege."
i.e. it wouldn't be neutral. Imagine... that big zip of family photos you just got in GMail downloads like lightning - meanwhile hotmail chugs. You were gonna watch something on NetFlix but it's too damn slow today so you watch the movie on Google's new service (at a higher price). No other video sharing site on the planet works worth a damn anymore so you go back to YouTube to post but ... you better not say anything bad about China! This is a deliberate crippling of the net FOR profit.

In a statement Wednesday, Verizon said it has been in talks with Google for nearly 10 months to try to strike some sort of compromise on net neutrality.
There IS no such thing as a compromise on net neutrality. Either the packet carrying policies are completely neutral or there is no neutrality. Slightly positive is positive. Slightly negative is negative. Only exactly neutral is neutral.

Now the FCC seems to be giving up and thus allowing Google and Verizon to practically write any new legislation.
Verizon and Google expect to unveil their proposal within days and hope it will provide a framework for net neutrality legislation in Congress

Yay! More legislation written by corporations. We know how well that works from the energy industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the finance industry!

I saw that Google/Verizon story and thought, "well, that's it humped."

Do no evil, indeed.

:whack:

the FCC is bunch of weak spine evil assholes and have been for years

Google is evil!
Where's the news in that? :?

Alas, it was only a matter of time.
