so my grandson got suspended for his hair

Co0ol. Now he's been on the TV he'll be pretty much a super hero with his school buddies.

and he's learned a valuable life lesson about "systems" and "institutions" as well... contrived BS and schoolyard pettiness is the rule of the day!!

the principal said his "high and tight", was in reality a mohawk... i still think ashley should send him to school with hair like grandpas....
a 6 year old???

how retarded

the HS didn't like my brother's hair either. today he is working at one of the most famous musical cultural centers IN THE WORLD (even people in Korea know it) and has a Grammy nomination. So fu*k those morons

Even if it is a so-called mohawk, being suspended for a hairstyle is utterly absurd.

He'd be well within his right of reply to question why the teacher wasn't also suspended, give their frightening "style" of facial features.
(at least, that's how I would probably have responded but I was always a cheeky wee bugger.)

now they are trying to imply it wasn't over his hair... good grief... "getting his head trimmed" was the only demand they made for his return to school.

Well, it depends. If the hairstyle is some type of distraction, annoyance, or other disruption, the student should be removed. (Think of the truly absurd, such as flashing lights in hair, excessive scents, etc.) There are plenty of times where one student's choice of hairstyle could impede a classmate's ability to learn effectively. School dress codes DO have a purpose.

I completely fail to see anything of the like here, though. From the picture of the haircut, it appears that the teacher was simply making a very poor judgement call, or using it as an excuse for some other reason, entirely.

True. I should have added, "within reason." :)

If you called his hairstyle a mohawk, it is technically a "military mohawk" of which there is a long tradition of wearing in the US military.

The principle is an idiot for having any problem with a military style mohawk

Woohoo! :pint:
(not often we agree)

Not a Mohawk. At least not like any I have seen. Though I do find it to be a bit narrow for a high and tight. Which I see alot a my barber. Be that there are alot of ROTC and former military in the area.
