"The man-made mechanical forest consists of 18 supertrees that act as vertical gardens, generating solar power, acting as air venting ducts for nearby conservatories, and collecting rainwater."

I love it when people get creative using energy. it Doesn't have to be ugly

Windows that generate power. Outstanding. I love this kind of stuff.

too lazy to start another thread (long story, I'm exhausted)

UCLA Develops Electricity-Generating, Transparent Solar Cell Windows

I've seen articles about this sort of thing before....getting closer to reality

i want you to know i just got stuck at that website for the last hour and a half... ;) the transparent cells were cool, pee plasma thruster, sound fire suppression system (from those crazy folks at DAARPA), carbon nanotube funnels to concentrate solar energy, low end spectrum light carbon solar cells to harvest light other cells dont, the sea orbiter, the medusoid (extra awesome http://inhabitat.com/caltech-and-harvard-scientists-create-artificial-jellyfish-from-rat-cells/ ), and this, the bio gel fridge...

you just push ur stuff into the gel, it stays in place and gel is chilled... one of these days theyll make some of that goo with everything we need to heal and we'll just shloop ourselves in and be fixed... lol... anyway thanks for posting that....

Tokelau, a small island nation, is officially becoming the first habited place on Earth to completely rely upon solar for its energy needs. Tokelau is a tiny group of coral islands that have up to now used diesel fuel for the daily needs of its roughly 1,400 residents. Within the next few weeks, the nation will make the historic switch to solar.

The new system is expected to provide 100% of the islands' power needs, with only non-solar items left are reported to be the three cars the islanders share.

outstanding! socialists!

and, I'm sure at some point even those cars will be replaced by none-gas versions

in my own defense it was on that page and i always commit myself to one more click on every site i go to... which leads to another, and then another... and then "farg!! im still home!!!"... uncomfortably crazy how easy i get played by life... and the people i meet on mulberry street...:D
