“You need to stop right there,” Rodriguez says. “Don’t come any closer please. I’m telling you, I’m telling you, stop, I said stop right now or I will shoot you! … I fear for my life. I told you to stop, my life’s in danger, you got weapons on you, stay away from me.”
While standing in Danaher’s driveway with a flashlight and a gun, Rodriguez is also on the phone with a 911 dispatcher using the buzzwords he learned in concealed weapons class, according to the prosecutor.
At one point, one the men Rodriguez confronted suggests that he will get his own gun: “When I go in that house and come back, don’t think I won’t be equal to you, baby.”
“I’m talking to you, and I mean, I’m scared to death here,” Rodriguez explains to the dispatcher. “It’s about to get out of hand, sir. Please help me, now. I’m standing my ground here.”

And some people wonder why I'm glad guns are more strictly controlled in the U.K.

Given my liking for loud music, I would have probably been dead about 20 years ago.
 
I find it no suprise that the murders ticked up in states after they passed the 'Stand you ground' law. Ideally we'd like to think they're killing criminals. However, it's not an individual's job to be Judge, Jury, and Executioner. We have a legal system for a reason.

The whole concept really does remind me of the South Park hunters who claim they can shoot it as long as they proclaim 'It's coming right for us' first.

He was on Kelly Danaher’s property

Raul Rodriguez own video showed Kelly and his friends going back towards the house. Kelly had his hands up in the air before that and was CLEARLY unarmed

So despite him repeatedly saying that "he was in fear for his life", the video didn't show it was a reasonable fear.

Clearly Rodriguez provoked the incident, if he was truly "in fear for his life" then why didn't he leave Danaher's property?

Hope he knew the penalty for first degree murder in Texas as well as he knew the phrase "I'm in fear for my life"
It'll be appropriate when they strap him to the gurney.

There are thugs in unions and thugs not in unions. Equally there are non-thugs in unions too. Take your cheap shot and stick it up your arse. Rodriguez is a douche and he went looking for a reason to shoot his neighbour. He's also an idiot. I think we're all agreed on that, but none of that has anything to do with unions. Stop this stupid guilt by association - you are smearing many good upstanding hard working people.

So he was union, Local 1173 - the Baytown fire fighters union - just like two of the guys he shot who were trying to stop him killing people for playing their music loud. If you are ever trapped on the balcony of a burning building (let's hope that never happens) are you really going to tell the guy in the big yellow coat whose climbing the ladder to get you to clear off because you don't like that he's in a union?

I DO hope this racist is in a burning building and the firefighter just doesn't waste his time "saving" him.
