Star witness says Trayvon called Zimmerman a creepy ass cracker

Rachel Jeantel was Trayvon Martin’s girlfriend. She claims that they joked about George Zimmerman over the phone right before the shooting. She says that Trayvon described the man as a “creepy, white, kill-my-neighbors cracker.”

For those not familiar with the term "cracker", I'll explain. It is slang that AFAIK originated in Florida and is the Caucasian equivalent to "nigger".

Funny that Zimmerman isn't even white...

Actually, there is simply no equivalent for that word in the United States. Both do fit in the broad 'racial slur' category, however.

His father is caucasian and of German descent. Genetically, he is as white as Barrack Obama is black.

Whether the victim was a racist is ultimately of no relevance. This case is about how low the bar is for being allowed to legally shoot a person in public. I, for one, would much rather have Trayvon call me racial names a million times than have Zimmerman follow and then shoot at me once.

Hispanic is not a race classification

Zimmerman is a common surname in Laredo, they would all be classified Hispanics

a "Hispanic" is defined as "a person of Mexican, Puerto Rican, Cuban, South or Central American, or other "Spanish culture origin"

which mean a Spaniard from Spain is classified "Hispanic" rather than "Caucasian"

good grief.. you didnt just type all that bullshit for the world to see did you?

Zimmerman derives from the German last name Zimmermann which means carpenter. Within the United States, it is ranked as the 441st-most common surname.[1]

you do know i live in a predominately german community right? in laredo these fellers are called hispanics? really? no wonder you all are mad at "hispanics" then, this whole state is full of them by that kind of accounting...

n fact, the Wikipedia entry for “Cracker (pejorative)” even notes the distinction:
Cracker, sometimes white cracker or cracka, is a sometimes pejorative expression for white people, especially poor rural whites in the Southern United States. In reference to a native of Florida or Georgia, however, it is sometimes used in a neutral or positive context and is sometimes used self-descriptively with pride.

Gee, it is written on the interwebs so it must be right!

I can confirm as a native Floridian that it is usually used by African Americans in a negative way.

Pretty sure I know German surnames as well as you do

your pretty {bleep} clueless, so try to follow

Caucasian is a race

Hispanic is a culture

Most of the Germans immigrated to Laredo in the 1840's, the culture here is Spanish, the Spanish settled the area in the 1750's

I am a German Caucasian, my wife is a Hispanic Caucasian, a Spanish land grant family, my children grew up speaking both English and Spanish, which makes them Hispanic Caucasians

There are Zimmerman's in the Laredo area and Mexico, they are all Hispanics

understand???

yes i understand completely... your children are americans, of germanic- spanish descent...

Ah the lawyer trick - can't beat the evidence so attack the character.

I can't see how Trayvon describing the man who was soon going to kill him as a "creepy, white, kill-my-neighbors cracker" plays for the defense. It would seem to indicate that Trayvon had noticed Zimmerman was exhibiting behaviours that indicted murderous intent.

testimony would indicate Trayvon went to kick that crackers ass MMA style
Neighbor testifies Trayvon Martin was straddling Zimmerman moments before fatal gunshot

Looks more and more like this is a case of prosecutorial misconduct

The case really does seem cut and dried when looked at purely based on facts. Trayvon attacked George and was shot by George in self defense. Certain people want to ignore the facts because the first reports they heard made it sound like an innocent 12 year old school boy was hunted down and murdered in cold blood by a Klansman. They ignore all the facts coming out because it gives them warm fuzzies thinking they are fighting racism, facts be damned.

Zimmerman had a bloody nose, black eye and a gash on the back of his head. He was on his back getting pummeled by Trayvon and probably feared for his life. Trayvon was high and had a clear history of thug-like activity including assault.

It seems pretty cut and dried when you look at it purely based on the facts. George followed Trayvon, provoked a confrontation he was told not to and ended up getting his ass kicked and shooting a kid. George should not have done what he did. If he wasn't a cop wanna be, creepy, white, kill-your-neighbor cracker, Trayvon still be alive.

Sorry but your post is not based on facts but emotion. The 911 operator is not a police officer and therefore not following the advice is not a crime. By most accounts, George was walking back to his vehicle when he was jumped by Trayvon. Not liking what a neighborhood watch is doing is not grounds for legal assault. The only reason George Zimmerman was arrested was due to fears of race riots.

  1. you are assuming zimmerman is being truthful. I'm listening to testimony right now and zimmerman admits that Martin looked back at him and saw him following Martin. Martins friend claims that Martin mentioned several times that he was concerned about a stranger following him. The phone records will substantiate her testimony..
  2. zimmerman was not a member of a neighborhood watch. And he didn't follow the rules in any case. ie, don't follow a "suspect", don't carry a gun.

If someone was following ME I'd feel VERY threatened. I'd feel that they were either trying to rob or rape me. Maybe where you live it's considered no big deal to go around following strangers but not for me. I can't say I know what I would do if someone was following me but it's not a pleasant feeling and if I had to defend myself I would.

And I am hearing zimmerman claim he "got out of his car" to see the street sign. bullshit. If I had called 911 I'd wait for the cops and NEVER leave my car until they arrived. then I'd show them where I saw anyone walking around. the street isn't leaving.
