Stem cells full steam ahead!

The Fox story references CORD being used which I don't know anyone against. The use of aborted babies for medical research is where the problem lies. Is there any point arguing this on Whyzzat again?

Is that a whole story here? Did the CORD from the aborted babies? It just a question of what on my mind.

Not always but at least here on Whyzzat the more right wing people lean against stem cell research. Many right-wing sources have cited that stem cell have yet to produce any useful treatments. Right wingers, here at least, have a it came from Fox so therefore it's gotta be true attitude. Well, here is Fox News publishing a story on how someone was healed with Cord "blood" which are in reality... Stem Cells. Yup we already have treatments with stem cells and we should fully continue and push forward with further treatments and uses for Stem Cells.

The Bush Admin killed scientific progress in their term relating to stem cells. IMO, it may have set the USA back far enough that we may have lost an industry. Who knows what treatments will come out of this. For each one that did you could subtract a decade and that's where we'd be had Bush not killed the science.

And again - all this is your personal freedom. If you don't want to be treated with stem cells you have the right to simply tell the doctor no thanks. It makes less sense to take a tool away from the doctors. Overall right-wing policies have a less educated is better bent to them. Truly sad.

I agree.

and who knows how many people's lives would have been improved?

but I can't expect a religious wacko to be able to see The Big Picture.
That's why Americans have to stop voting for the stupid. We can't afford it

@faethor

Again you gloss over a few things. The Fox story mentions cord blood which probably came from live births, not aborted babies.

Please point out where any Whyzzat users stated stem cell research was bad or that using cord blood was bad.

I don't think aborted babies were ever the issue. The main contention was about whether fertilized ova left over from in vitro fertilization could be used for stem cell research (they are currently destroyed).

I have never heard an argument against stem cell research except in the case of using aborted babies.

The plus is Stem Cells have never used aborted babies, at least in the USA. So alls good and there was no legitimate reason for the Bush Administration to stop the progress of the industry.

"Aborted babies" is what the Republicans call the unimplanted blastocyst left over from in vitro fertilization.
