Think the people want a multi-party system? Or maybe just a two-party system. A two party system would be perfect for Assad - he could still run the country but the people could vote for one party then the other and never really change anything.

Holding a referendum while at the same time bombarding certain cities is a joke. Not at all surprised Russia backs this. This will end when Assad's body is dragged down the streets of Damascus (although I suspect he doesn't have the guts to stick around when things get hairy and will go into exile).

Results are in. 89% want change. Maybe they'd also like a side of hope with that.
