A complicit press helps. The spirit of Pravda lives.

The American press has been a complete and utter joke for at least the last decade and it wasn't so healthy in the decade before that. They would wimp out at the first hint of denial. They are supposed to be the watchdogs of power, not the lapdogs. Imagine the police working the way the press does:

Officer: Sir, you've just been caught red handed robbing this bank in front of several witnesses and the act has been caught on video. What have you to say?

Mr. Gov: That's an absurd insinuation.

Officer: Oh, alright, fair enough. Sorry to have been a bother then. You are free to go.
