This article is about large scale historical events and the ... for want of a better word, conspiracies that go on. Some actors in the conspiracy are willful and delibeate but so many others are merely coopted - not so much active planners but enablers and fanboys. Fromo decades of my own experience with some shabby organizations and businesses and with some shady characters I've seen this sort of thing over and over again and yet i keep thinking that right has a chance and that people are smart enough to see what's really going on but I should have learned by now. People like to be near power, people are afraid to go the other way, being right is less important than being popular - if people have to suffer for your pleasure, c'est la vie - most people are rapists that way - and I'm always surprised at the ability to rationalize.

I apologize that this is a little long but I think it's worth a read.

In the fictional democracy many pundits think we still live in, Kennedy would have sworn Sullivan in and indicted him for perjury for lying to Congress.
But even 40 years ago, one of the Senate's most powerful legislators did not dare seriously challenge what he knew was unaccountable executive mass murder.

Depressingly unsurprising.
