The Least Religious Generation

Hmm. Now I think about it, maybe @cecilia brought this up before. It is from earlier this year and seems somehow familiar.

that web site doesn't look familiar but I do think the topic has come up...and, yes, it's good news. The more society gets away from fairy tales, the better.

the magnet article seems kookie, however

The problem here is the word "society". Industrialized nations like the US and UK may be waning on the Godlygook, but more primitive regions like the middle east seem to be embracing religion in a far deeper way and far at a more dangerous level than I ever recall seeing before 20 years ago...

Hmmm.. Godlygook. I like it. I'm keeping it...

There are plenty of primitive regions inside the US as well, but if you look around I think you'll find that religion is found most strongly in regions that are plagued by poverty and by war (especially people who we bomb, it seems, like to turn to a strong, righteous and revenge based religiosity). A bunch of that is also driven by our friends in Saudi Arabia who use their extreme Wahhabist version of Islam for social control and to keep the poor people from trying to get at all that oil money. Sometimes I think the Right Wing in the US are hoping to use some of the nuttier brands of Christianity for the same thing (which is pretty much what it was invented for anyway).

The same goes for the U.S. really. West Virginia for example is -- by comparison -- a largely impoverished state, and the Good Lord is big business "'round them parts"

Ok. Ok. I'm a sucker. Domain was just too tempting to pass up. Especially with the massive Godaddy coupon codes out there...

But the question remains, what to do with it... :)

this is where we start a religion and get rich
LOL

Well, first off, hopefully there won't be any confusion involving the bible-thumping wing of the Viet Kong. ;-)
