"No, no, no" - I have heard it claimed, "the media are all about their bottom line." That's the market theory that the media will produce the news that's important to their audience because that's who pays the bills. Until it becomes too obvious that media coverage really does reflect the ideology of the owners at which point it's "duh!, well of course".
