And that's of course, the Stanely Cup finals!!! Tonight is the night. After all those series and games, it comes down to one last game in Vancouver. It has turned out to be one heck of a weird series, filled with bitter rivalries, punching and biting, injuries, suspensions, name calling, shutouts, blow out scores and overtime wins. And there's a good chance that tonight will end in a huge riot in Vancouver, regardless of who wins. What could be more exciting then that?

I certainly have the evening booked off. Anyone else planning on watching the game? Anyone actually going to the game (or the street parties)???

Any predictions for tonight? I'm gonna say 1-0 Vancouver, possibly in OT. I'm gonna have to tape up my fingernails to prevent any further damage.

Stanley cup? Is that something that protects your manhood when playing sports?

Hmmm. 4-0 Bruins.
I was at work watching the tweets on Google. 's funny how many people all at once said "you can't blame Luongo that the Canucks can't score". Sounds almost like the talking heads on TV were getting re-tweeted.

Oh well. Nothing is on fire according to the live stream I'm watching from down town.

'cept it just went black. Maybe the camera crew just want to get out of there before things start hitting the fan.

And they call this a riot ....

You should'a seen how nuts we'd have got if we won!!!

The papers in this country go into melt-down when football fans sing offensive songs.
Maybe we need a wee riot to remind them of how placid it really is.

That is making the news all the way down here. At least stupidity like this from sports "fans" is not only a US big city phenomenon.

Check this tadger out:

What a silly boy.

Ya, the Canucks coudn't score, but they were playing well while it was 0-0 and they had plenty of chances. When you play like that you'll eventually score even on a hot goalie. But Luongo made no real amazing saves and that's what he needed to do. Thomas repeatedly made difficult saves against the leagues best offense. Luongo had a hard time dealing with a very average offense. And when you're playing with a shaky goalie and he lets in a softy, the team can be demoralized or panicked - which is what happened. However I place a lot of blame on Vancouver's defense. They were terrible in Boston and they didn't get much better back home. They seem nervous or something and I noticed they focus too much on the puck instead of on the man. I also blame the coach for not adapting better. They should have got the hint early on in the series that things needed to change but they didn't change a thing. Their main strategy seemed to be to play as dirty as the Bruins, and that backfired as no one can play as dirty as the Bruins. That's their thing, dirty cheap-ass hits - the type of hockey I hate to watch.

Oh well. The good news is that the Winnipeg Jets are back. Maybe we'll shock everyone and bring the cup back to Canada. Actually, I'll be impressed if they make the playoffs (The Atlanta Thrashers are kinda crap, but hopefully they'll do better with more then three fans).
