If only we could get some honest, hardworking, smart people in office filled with energy and the ideas to solve the big issues facing our communities. Luckily there are those candidates.

He could be. But here's the thing, he is an ideal candidate in many ways because he won't have any idea when he's being manipulated, and he probably won't have the wherewithal to control his administration so his agenda can be easily hijacked and he wouldn't notice or know what to do about it. Most people probably would not have seen his television appearance and will just vote the party they usually vote for and even those who did see this, half the people who would vote his party anyway would find him "real" or "folk" and the other half would still vote their party just to block the "other side".

Normally the party machine will keep these people away from the media unless they can trust them to stick to the carefully selected talking points and even then, staying off the news and letting the party logo do its job is considered preferable. Generally speaking, the dumber the candidate the better for the party elites. People often have no idea who the person is that they are being asked to vote for.

The Tennessee primary is in August.

And wasn't polling well, but I find myself rooting for him. Go! Go! Marceaux!

Proven fact:
If your name is "Alvin Greene" you'll get 59% of the vote in a Democratic primary.

No job, no house, no campaign website, no campaign headquarters , absolutely no campaigning required.

Greene “loves family and lives with his mom and dad” and “knows how you feel cause he’s unemployed, too.”

Basil Marceaux to appear on ABC’s ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live!’ tonight (Monday).

The Tennessee Republican primary results:

Bill Haslam 47.4%
Zach Wamp 29.2%
Ron Ramsey 22.0%
Joe Kirkpatrick 0.9%
Basil Marceaux 0.5% (3520)
