The reason for lack of new members..

I find myself amazed.

I disabled new user registrations about 6 months ago due to bots and spammers. This morning, I enabled it so that I could set up an account for koaftder.

Before I could finish his account setup, I had no less than 3 bots create accounts on the system trying to spam us. Allow me to say that I wish vBulletin wasn't so expensive, but PHPBB sucks...

That's a shame and a little alarming. No way around it? Captchas or whatever you call them, for example?
