The right to defend my self

I wish them all the best of luck. This is freedom, spontaneous organization of new government. I don't think the old government will allow it though. There is too much money to be lost. It's not just drug money either, there is mining money and plantation money at stake too. How are big Canadian mineral interests going to make a (bigger) fortune if people are farming the land over the ore bodies and the locals won't let the trucks roll through without paying a fair price? I see agent orange and death squads in the future.

January 27, 2014—The Self-Defense Groups that emerged in Michoacán signed an agreement today along with the federal and state government that will transform them into elements of the Rural Defense Corps, an existing organization under the control of the military. Rurales, groups of armed volunteers who were once used to keep peace in rural areas when security forces were unavailable, once existed between 1861 and 1914, during Mexico’s turbulent 19th century.

The self defense militias of Mexico, started in Michoacan, and are now spreading to other states. The PRI are seen as corrupt bribe takers who will take no action against the Cartels, and send the military into areas merely for show. This agreement is a major 180 from what the government was saying only a week ago, that the self defense militias were illegal, and they were going to send the military to disarm them.

Wow. I am genuinely surprised and cautiously optimistic. Cain of command may be an issue though. Can they be ordered to act against their own communities and be rounded up for insubordination if they refuse? We shall see. I hope it's in good faith though. Those people have suffered plenty already.

The Mexican government first tried to distort the facts and demonize the self-defense movement. What you see in the videos, is a revolution in Mexico, citizens have no right to keep and bare arms, every one of those carrying a weapon in the video is breaking the Mexican constitution which prohibits anyone but the police and military from having weapons. When the Military first went to Michoacan in response to the autodefensas militias it tried to disarm them. The autodefensas militias refused to disarm themselves and to surrender the occupied municipalities until the bosses of "Caballeros Templar." were captured. They said Governor Fausto Vallejo has lost all capacity to govern Michoacan. The government claimed that they had no idea where the bosses were, and it would take a long time to track the boses down. But then the premier leader of "Caballeros Templar." home was featured in a French architectural fashion magazine and featured a picture of the kingpin Enrique Plancarte Solis sitting on a couch in the living room of his house in Nueva Italia, Michoacan, the photo was dated Jan 13, 2014.

French photojournalist Jerome Sessini, captured the photo of Enrique Plancarte in the living room of his home in Nueva Italia, on the day government forces rolled into Michoacán under the guise of looking for cartel leaders and restoring security.

The war in Michoacan: A brief chronology

Showing how ridiculous Castillo’ statement was in comparing the self-defense movement to the Caballeros Templar., about 200 vigilante supporters gathered in Tancitaro's town square Thursday for a symbolic return of 25 avocado orchards that had been seized by the cartel to their rightful owners.
