And prescription overdose at that!

http://www.miamiherald.com/457/story/1121948.html

Florida continues to see a rapid rise in fatal overdoses caused by prescription-drug abuse -- a trend fueled by a cottage industry of cash-only pain clinics -- while deaths from illegal drugs wane, according to a report from the state's medical examiners released Tuesday.

Nearly 1,000 deaths were caused in 2008 by the potent painkiller oxycodone -- a 33 percent increase from 2007, the report says. Four years ago, only 340 deaths statewide were attributed to oxycodone, the most popular drug in the black-market pill trade supplied by pain clinics.

The article does not make the connection between economy and overdose, I do. Our local reporters aren't that sharp.

I'm with you on this Jim, save for one thing.. Reporters aren't any more stupid than the rest of us sheeple. The problem is that they are (at least sometimes) held to a standard of "prove what you say..."

Ok, well, not so much in these days of "newstertainment" but in the good old Cronkite days, they could get fired for saying there's a link when they might have trouble proving it.

Since we live in the days of Barbie News, I'll just go ahead and agree with you.. :)
