Except you did feel the need to spell out one - and only one - reason before I indicated anything:

As you went on to explain, that reason alone is not normally enough for you to criticise a joke but it was the one you cited and that's why we ended up discussing it.

I said:
Mmmmmmm. That's a little distasteful.
But now you know my reasons, why don't you tell me why the joke made you laugh.

As I already said, it didn't.
I didn't even read the joke. It was your stated reason for disliking it that I commented on.

Well that was totally pointless. You were taking me to task for not finding it funny without even having an opinion on whether it was funny - or knowing what it was? I only bothered explaining my opinion of the joke because I mistakenly thought that you had one of your own that differed from mine.

I'm criticising the joke.

And Kimmel is quite funny, but that joke didn't work for me for the stated reasons.

You find Kimmel funny?!??? I can't even watch his drivel. He doesn't have a since ounce of humor in his body IMO.

Not quite. I wasn't taking you to task for not finding it funny. I was merely picking up on your stated reason for not finding it funny. I'm sure you can appreciate the difference.
And the reason I picked up on it was that "a little distasteful" struck me as an inadequate explanation for your disdain, something you've since confirmed.
