Acclaimed Public Radio International program "This American Life" has retracted an entire episode about working conditions inside Foxconn, the Chinese manufacturer that builds much of Apple's most popular hardware, after learning the reporter "partially fabricated" information about his visit to the factories.

So.. This asshole completely fabricates his story about Apple and working conditions in China, causing not only multiple investigations and a severe blow to Apple's credibility.. How exactly is this not a legally actionable offense? I think it'd be in Apple's best interest to bury the guy for defamation and libel just to make the point of their own innocence.

I suppose that once Fox News managed to pull the "entertainment" defence to justify lies being presented as news, all bets were off.

News can no longer be treated as news.
