While this article in Science Daily doesn't address whether torture produces true confessions (though that has been addressed in other places and it produces what ever the heck story the torturee thinks the torturer wants to here so they'll stop), it does address an interesting phenomenon.

The more you torture someone, the guiltier you think they are.
