Toyota is #2 in car production

when I saw the link address "leftlanenews" i thought, 'what does this have to do with politics???'

went to the link and realized that they are probably (?) referring to the left lane on a highway being where the driver can drive faster than in the right lane(s) in america

OR

maybe it IS a veiled reference to politics :roflmao:

I'd say it's highly surprising, but I'm not sure how much weight to put into it all.

Over the weekend, German reports put VW Group at 4.4 million units for the first nine months of 2009

So VW is the number producer one through the first 9 months of the year. I don't think that is the normal way annual production runs are recorded, though.

The Detroit 3 always do a July or August shutdown for vacations and tooling changes. I think Toyota followed suit this year, as well. If VW worked through that time, some numbers could be skewed. I'm not saying for sure that is what happened, but I wouldn't hold my breath until the official year-end numbers.

VW is looking to futher grow. They've bid for part of Suzuki and are rumored to be looking at another car company.
