Trace amounts of the radioactive element Iodine-131 from the Japan nuclear disaster have been detected in South Florida, but authorities say the concentrations remain far below the level that would present any danger.

It is worth noting that is a very small amount, indeed, and is less than half the background dosage an average person picks up in a day, just from living. This graph sums up radiation doses quite well for those who are interested.

Our local detector (and by local, I mean within about a mile) also picked up Iodine-131 from Japan but it's a trace amount.
