What are our two biggest economic problems? Huge public debt and vastly wealthy, unaccountable private bankers. All the money the private bankers have been able to amass is mostly created by them out of nothing - there isn't enough money in the world to pay the debts but there wasn't even enough money to lend out to create those debts. It's all been built up by magic and it can be wrapped up the same way.

Make the fake money go away and put money creation back in the hands of the people that create the wealth - i.e. "the People". Even the IMF sees the sense in that.

Judism has the concept of Sabbatical Debt Forgiveness that happens on a 7 year cycle. We just say 'Forgive it all' and it goes away.

Actually since I'm on that topic those Christians here might want to go through their Bible. In a number of places God forbids the borrowing of money.

Religions, as repositories of collected wisdom that people thought was worth remembering and writing down to pass to the future, incorporate lessons learned from mistakes. I doubt that any culture ever just spontaneously came up with a rule against borrowing without having experienced the harsh problems of debt.
