Saudi Arabia, China among countries cited; Obama urged to take action

WASHINGTON - Saudi Arabia and China are among 13 countries a U.S. government panel named on Thursday as serious violators of religious freedom.

The panel's report also criticized the current and former administrations in Washington for doing far too little to make basic religious rights universal.

That is the goal of the congressional act that founded the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom in 1998. The commission investigates conditions in what it calls "hot spots," where religious freedom is endangered. Its job is to recommend U.S. government policies to improve conditions.

This really begins to piss me off, and points out why America is truly hated throughout parts of the world...

Why in the living bleep do Americans seem to think that everyone, everywhere gets the same rights to "religious freedom" (or ANY OTHER RIGHTS) that we do as Americans.

I heard some stupid asshat on CNN yesterday actually fighting against the Arizona immigration thing because he doesn't understand that you don't get the same rights as Americans IF YOU'RE NOT {bleep} AMERICAN...

Gaaaahhh!!!

this is more bulling behavior on the part of some people (religious?) in the name of america.

i wish they would stop using me to hide their own agenda

What the "Americans" (by which is meant the elite ruling interests of America who run America for their own benefit) are really complaining about is that these are countries that do not allow Christians to send their missionaries to and convert the locals to the religion of the US (a form of protestantism very useful to the investing classes). The purpose of converting other peoples' populations/chattel is to a: weaken the local ruler's influence over the population, b: increase your control over their population and c: get money out of them.

It's the way that the Vatican ran the western parts of the Roman Empire when Constantine left Rome for Constantinople (ex Byzantium) and it's how Constantine's Eastern Orthodox church run the Eastern parts of the Empire. It's how Islam ruled the Middle East and how Judaism ruled Khazaria. Changing the religious makeup of a region changes who owns that region.

I do not know what commenter you are referring to and what he said, but a major complaint about the Arizona Immigration Law is that American citizens will likely become victims of racial profiling if they happen to have the "wrong" skin color.

In general, it is very sad that Arizona had to come up with an ineffective, yet controversial law like this in the first place. The immigration issue should have been dealt with on the federal level. It is difficult to explain why the United States government has billions of dollars to send hundreds of thousands of soldiers (and highly paid private contractors) all over the world, yet is incapable of providing funds to properly secure its very own borders.
