Videogame players do it better

The violent action games that often worry parents most had the strongest beneficial effect on the brain. "These are not the games you would think are mind-enhancing," said cognitive neuroscientist Daphne Bavelier, who studies the effect of action games at Switzerland's University of Geneva and the University of Rochester in New York.
I'm not surprised at all. Hunting and survival are important to the male brain process, war games certainly stimulate that part of the brain which is normally suppressed in daily life. And there certainly is a lot of creativity. Games like Battlefield provide an amazing depth of play for what is essentially a shooter. However creativity and trickery are an important part of the game, it's not just an issue of quick reflexes.

Especially with us 40+ year old gamers. We dont' have the fast fingers of that 12 year old. Coming face to face with my Nephew in Gears 3 means certain death for me. Oh but I can surprise him with creative uses of cover, maps, and sniping he's never thought of trying.

From an old friend of mine: "Old age and treachery conquer youth and skill every time".

He was a devious bastard when it came to fps too :D

I played a certain game when I was 8, a helicopter sim called "Tomahawk", in glorious CGA. I was very good at that, but 15 years later I had to come to the conclusion I was way much better at it back then
