Wait! This modern movie not only didn't suck, but was actually good?

Here's one. Not a perfect movie, but was pretty good and fun! It might help to know some of the comic lore, but not required.

I'm not big on the 4th wall stuff, but it largely works here.

This was the best Marvel movie in YEARS, and proof that if Disney would take their holy thumb out of their social justice asses to get back to making COMIC BOOK movies rather than social and political statements, they might actually make money instead of tanking as the last 6 or so Disney movies have...

Nice to know that good movies are still being made. I kind of lost interest in modern movies in the last few years and mainly just watch YouTube when I have time. Nice to hear a few good movies still pop through once in a while. Thanks for the movie recommend!

Bill, Let's be clear.

This isn't a family movie, or one that'll be placed on the same shelf with, say The Godfather or Gone with the Wind. It's pure whimsical violence, one-liners, and 100mph go-go-go from beginning to end, but it WAS a fantastic, fun, and great movie which cycled back around to REAL comic book movies before political correctness and social bullshit, aka "Disney" took over and ruined the last six or so comic movies with social statements, gender and race swapping, and bullshit PC statements...

If you want to see a solid, fun movie which proves it's still possible to make solid, fun movies, and you're willing to put up with the gratuitous nature you'd expect when you put Deadpool vs Wolverine in the same movie, by all means, it's worth the 2 hours of your life to see it, unlike, say "The Marvels" which was simply abysmal from start to finish...

I will say this. It's the absolute best I've ever seen out of the character Wolverine, and the first time I've ever seen him fight exactly like I have always imagined in the comic books.. I don't buy DVDs or digital movies any more (no room to store them really) but this might be a rare exception...

You did see 'Logan', right? I had given up completely on comic book movies. I didn't even bother watching the Avengers series, which I have heard is good. I just couldn't be bothered. Logan came and went in the theater and I ignored it too. I heard nothing but good and a friend finally got me to watch a blu-ray version one night. Logan restored at least a little bit in the general concept of comic book movies for me. I haven't read the "Old Man Logan" comic series it was based on, but as a Wolverine fan since the late 70s, that movie was the logical conclusion for his character and I thought he acted pretty spot on for his character. Even for a non comic book fan, I'd think people could like it.

It's been years since I've seen the movie "Logan" so I really can't recall, but what I do remember is that I couldn't get past the feeling of "they're going to kill off my favorite character" and the "old guy" part. DvW on the other hand was pure, prime-time DeadPool and Wolverine. Both were portrayed perfectly to what I imagined from the comics I read as a kid...

I don't now the "lore" but I saw the first Deadpool movie and enjoyed it. I did find some of the pronoun references a bit ham-fisted. It's not like I don't think political pronoun usage shouldn't be mocked, but it's unnecessary to reference that fact that you're mocking.
Generally it was a decent, whimsical roller coaster with lots of gratuitous violence and rapid fire banter. The leads were all good. Wasn't sold on Cassandra on the first reveal but she won me over quickly with her delicious relish.
Unfortunately it looks like they couldn't escape the trap of having a DEI hire to meet the inclusion threshold for funding. Fortunately they didn't get much screen time but then level of acting was just so far below the majority of the cast, especially for such a "senior" level authority. Hugh Jackman was stellar though.
