So it looks like there is some China Vs US brinkmanship going on in the Korean peninsula.

Meanwhile the US is still badgering Iran despite Iran reaching a fuel swap agreement with Brazil that is largely similar to the one the US has been pushing. The US calls it too little too late but the UN calls it encouraging

Meanwhile in Japan, protesters seek to dislodge US base, which would make China happy and that's why it probably won't happen - the US would never allow a free democratic country to kick them out.

And on the same island (Okinawa), the native people (Ryukins) have been trying to dislodge the Japanese for centuries!

Isn't that great? They have the right to protest. WWII ended what, 65 years ago? I have no problem closing any and all bases in Japan.

But yeah, I wonder how long it would take before China invaded.

The war is already on. There is no peace treaty. And while there has been low level warfare for years (by other means) this is an escalation. It's not likely to become a hot US/China war but the US will push it to pressure China and North Korea (they would like to get rid of North Korea and own more property bordering China), China really really doesn't want the North to fall. Mistakes in these calculations do occasionally occur leading to more than acceptable numbers of people getting killed.

Following up on the Japan base situation - the government is falling apart over it

Meanwhile in Korea I hear that the survivors of the sunken ship have been holed up and are not allowed to talk to anyone - I guess they haven't actually finished their investigation - or they don't want to be contradicted.

Still, if N. Korea did it it would be a feather in their cap and a serious blow - to sneak a sub into a S. Korean/US war game, torpedo a submarine-hunting corvette, sink it, and escape. Embarrassing.
