Worse? I don't know about that. Is a guy falling off the Empire State building in a "worse" situation at floor 14 than he was at floor 30? In that he's nearer the ground, perhaps, that the end is nearer, but there is no substantial change in what is happening.

Did I post this one yet? $22T+ in debt by 2022 is going to be a long way down to Earth.

But that's going to be 22T in 2022 dollars which is about $14.50 in today's dollars, or somewhat less then the price of a gross of eggs.

Sure it can get worse if at the 14th floor on his way down he gets consumed in a mushrood cloud.

I don't think that would make any material difference. All it would mean would be a few seconds less falling.
A worse case would be hitting a few things on the way down just enough to render the final stop less fatal but to be left with multiple debilitating deficits. On the other hand, where there is life, there is hope.

Now, let's quote some more of that article.

The world’s developed economies are trapped at the “stall speed” of low growth and need to have greater fiscal stimulus and less austerity to kick-start growth

More stimulus is definitely needed including making the banks that are sitting on all that TARP money go out and lend it instead. Another good stimulus would be to start jailing all the crooks so the honest players could get back in the game with a chance.

Stimulus doesn't work in the long term, it only makes things worse which is why we are in a worse situation now than we were in 2008. Stimulus is just kicking the can down the road, but we are running out of road.

Making banks spend TARP money and jailing crooks? Now you are just being plain silly. You know they won't do anything like that to their close friends.

Stimulus doesn't work in the long term ...
Is just meaningless talking points. That's two of you guys that have been saying that just recently - did you get it off the TV?
That's like a doctor telling a guy with sepsis that he's not going to bother medicating because antibiotics don't work in the long term. They aren't SUPPOSED to work in the long term. They are supposed to work NOW and once you are on your feet again you can get on with the long term.

"Stimulus doesn't work in the long term" is asinine and someone is trying to bamboozle you with catchy slogans.

What Fluffy said. I would add: stimulus alone doesn't necessarily work. Yes, cleaning up the system that is broken is also mandatory. There's no one quick solution to a very complex and hard to understand problem. The US needs many changes, and a stimulus would not have been a problem if those other changes also happened.

Quick!! Someone get fluffy to a doctor!! I think Fluffy's medium to long term memory is gone!!

We've had this conversation for years on this site and I've had the same position all along.

So you think the last Stimulus will keep on killing jobs? We lost 2 million in the last stimulus, we can't afford to lose more jobs again.

"Stimulus doesn't work in the long term" is slogany and stupid. It is also inaccurate. There is no limit to how long stimulus can work for so long as the fundamental reality underlying that which is being stimulated permits it. A defibrillator provides short term stimulus - long term stimulus is called a pace maker.

But worse, it's irrelevant. No-one is suggesting that the economy be run on nothing but "stimulus" and in perpetuity. Fact of the matter is that the economy fell over BEFORE Obama stimulus. The economy fell under George Bush stimulus (double wars and big tax breaks for the super wealthy).

Stimulus itself is not the problem.

Go hire some people then. Why don't you do that instead of complaining about Obama not making any jobs.

I'd like to see a detailed explanation as to HOW the stimulus itself caused the economy to lose jobs. Extra care should be given to ensure that other factors may not have played a role.

Accept the "stimulus" was nothing but a slush fund for the Democrat party. Take a good look on where it went, it went mostly to states to keep their SEIU paying state/county employees (who pays dues which are used for Democrat support) on at breath taking pay/benefits as well as creating more jobs that was geared towards union membership (Obama signed a executive order declaring any project over $2M had to have contractors who paid as certain amount that only union shops would fall under) which throws money into dues which is used for supporting Democrats. Worse part about that "stimulus" was it became a part of the yearly baseline budgeting. So not only was it not just a one shot deal, it's getting 7.5% increase year after year. If you limit it to only 4% growth, thats a "cut."

Obama probably expects that. He seems to think it's up to us poor to create jobs. Makes perfect sense, in the Obama world.

Quit your whining, you weaselly weakling. Why don't you just go and put your self sufficient I don't need no help to be free frontier spirit ideology into action, go out and get rich - or shut up. I'm so tired of armchair entrepreneurs always complaining about how big government is holding them back and then waiting for someone to give them a job.

My, how elite of you. How many jobs have you created up in Canada? Did they involve any national or providence government funding or contracts? I'm all ears on how you are creating those jobs up in Canada, I'm sure you have hundreds of employees since you know how to work the system and create wealth.

Dammy,

It's not my ideology. You are the one who thinks that giving rich people more money is going to make them like you enough to give you a job - but all they learn is that you are a stupid dumbass poor person who deserves being poor because you're such a sucker.

You are the guy who thinks that government should be shrunk so be grateful the the postal service canned your ass. It's your ideology. You support it. Revel in it.

You are the one who thinks government should quit stimulating so if that means the economy collapses further and you lose what you've still got left then you should dance a happy little jig because that's the kind of economics you prefer. Let the failures fail -stop propping them up with "assistance".

If you don't like being poor then just go be rich because all it takes is hard work, right - so off you go and stop being so lazy. Live your ideology and stop moaning about how Obama isn't doing anything - because you aren't doing anything to fix the situation yourself.

Live your beliefs or shut the hell up.

Where's the 'bravo' gif?

-EDIT-
Found one. Fluffy, take a bow, sir:
