Not sure how, but we did it. Canada played Russia last night in the quarter finals and Canada OWNED Russia, who were forced to change goalies - something they haven't had to do in decades. 7-3 the final score and boy was that a sweat game to watch. Beautiful tic-tac-toe plays by Team Canada and the Russians were on their heals the whole time. If you ever wondered what the Harlem Globe Trotters would be like if they were hockey players, last nights game would give you a good idea as it seems Canada was just having fun passing the puck around in Russia's zone. I was depressed for a couple of days after Canada lost to the US, but this more then makes up for it. I think the team has finally gelled and the line ups seem to finally be working. So Canada is looking on track to at least get a medal, but we need to defeat Slovakia tomorrow night. And that might be tough as Slovakia I think is the only other team to beat Russia and they beat Sweden last night. It's gonna be the game to watch! Bring on Slovakia!

I've been watching Curling. I like it a lot. I love the way the girls scream as the stone slides down.....it's funny and exciting at the same time :roflmao:

I watched a bit of the mens curling (Canada vs UK). It is kinda neat. Tonight I wanted to watch the womens hockey gold medal game, but missed it. Canada beat the US for the gold, 2-0. Now I'm watching women's free skate. Korea just had a perfect skate. Hope Canada gets a medal here but it'll be tight.

I watched that match too.

The boarder cross has been my favourite event so far. Impossible to tell which of the four racers will win. Very exciting.

Oh boy, 5 minutes to go until the last event: Men's Hockey Gold Medal Match, Canada vs United States! This is gonna be the game of the Olympics! Canada had a close game with the Slovaks but I'm hoping they'll pull their 3rd period together and keep the pressure on for the full three periods - which they'll need to do if they expect to win against the US.

If Canada wins, I hope they invite the Canadian women's team on the ice to smoke some cigars and drink some beer!

Go Canada!

Wow! It's been a while since I saw a game like that! It was close from the beginning, a real nail biter to the end. Both teams played their best and it was a hard earned victory. Canada led for most of the game but the US really pulled it together in the last 9 minutes and managed to tie it up with 24 seconds left in the 3rd with the added help of a 6th skater. But in overtime, Canada took it to them and #87 Sydney Crosby managed to put it past Miller, who otherwise had an outstanding tournament.

I can only imagine the mayhem going on in Vancouver right now. It sucks that I'm sitting at home with a cold, but it's a sweet victory just the same. Fluffy, have you had the opportunity take part in any of the festivities? Wish I could have been there.

I was busy during the game. Would you believe I had something more important to do. Anyway, it was pretty obvious that we'd won by the time I got outside again. All the traffic was honking and flags and people with flags were hanging out of the car windows and swarming over the sidewalks and streets in their maple leaf flag capes.

And I wasn't anywhere near downtown.

Wow, that's awesome - about the festivites. They obviously showed clips from all over Vancouver and it seemed like everyone was out on the streets. They were showing the game at our main hockey arena down town and afterwards the crowds spilled over into the streets and shut down Portage and Main. Likewise in Toronto where Younge and Dundas was shut down. Good times.

However if you also missed the closing ceremonies, well, you didn't miss much, it was embarrassingly lame (except for the Russian presentation which was kinda neat).

Ok, the Michael Buble part was the highlight. And even poking fun at themselves with the mime was cute. But the other attempts at humor were highly cringe worthy I thought. Maybe I just didn't get the jokes? Oh well, either way, it was bound to be anticlimactic after the game. And oh yes, I also didn't mind that the TV camera men just happen to always be near by Canada's cutest gold medalist Ashleigh McIvor:
