LAUDERDALE LAKES - A teenager broke into his neighbor's apartment, stabbed her repeatedly and robbed her—for $34, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.

Vibbins Williams's granddaughter found the 62-year-old woman barely breathing and lying in blood in the 4800 block of Northwest 24th Court about 9:30 p.m. Saturday, according to the Sheriff's Office.

The granddaughter, who was not identified, called 9-1-1 and paramedics rushed Williams to Broward General Medical Center, where she died.

Detectives arrested and charged William's 16-year-old neighbor with first-degree murder. He was being held Sunday in the Juvenile Assessment Center in Fort Lauderdale. The Sun Sentinel is not identifying the teen because of his age.

The youth confessed to stabbing Williams, according to the Sheriff's Office.
