Westboro Baptist Church, the controversial church of God Hates Fags infamy, claims that the legions of Anonymous are planning to attack its website.

However, according to at least one faction of Anonymous, the supposedly threatening open letter is the work of WBC itself, which is inviting an attack in order to garner sympathy for itself as well as running a honeypot designed to capture the IP addresses of attackers for subsequent lawsuits.

"garner sympathy"

 :roflmao:
that may be the funniest thing I've heard in quite a long time!!!

I just think that someone really needs to burn those pathetic nutballs to the ground.

I wouldn't do it and I'm not encouraging anyone to do it, but I have a feeling that it's only a matter of time before someone gets fed up

Turns out that Anon isn't that impressed.

Westboro looking to stir up a hornets nest so they can sue for their next paycheck when they get a reaction? Who'd'a'thunkit!

The only thing 100% of this site membership agrees on.

I fully agree this group is full of shite. But, being so doesn't exempt them from freedoms of speech and freedom of association. It's with these groups that we question the rights within our nation and if the 'crazys' should be able to utilize their rights. As much as I'd love to say no that activity doesn't squash this stuff.

Afterall we still give the 30% of citizens that believe Obama is a muslim from Africa the right to vote. Our rights most of all protect the crazys too.

I agree, sadly though this group (as well as others it has to be said) seems specifically geared toward abusing those rights (thus making it so much easier for others to demand their retraction) for the sole purpose of litigating a livelihood. As it happens the Anon press response states clearly that they view the right to free expression is a good thing.

That said, one day there will be major lulz to be had.

I have no problem with them babbling like the idiots that they are.

no one is a bigger fan of free speech than I am.

I also have total freedom of my speech to point out what a bunch of {bleep} assholes they are and THAT is not libel because there's way too much proof to the truth of it.

THAT is the beauty of Free Speech. it is a two edge sword
and when the truth is told the Air Is Free

Something wrong with my computer tonight; another no show:
"404 - Page Not Found!"

Ugh... bummer. That one isn't your computer, they took down the screenshot of Anonymous' message.

I'll see if I can find it somewhere. It was worth the read.

edit: Here ya go!

I also particularly enjoyed the Delicious Cake at the end, which showed exactly how completely their network was pantsed.

I know, I don't think either of them were, just happened in quicj succession.
