so it's far away from the oil and gas rich delta region in the south, so it wouldn't likely be indigenous groups fighting for more of the profit from the poil industry. The unrest is much closer to the capital Abuja so perhaps someone is stirring up unrest here to weaken the government.

Nigeria stiffed a lot oil oil contractors in 2008 and China is looking to pick up some contracts. I'm sure there must be some people who are upset about that. Nigeria has also signed with Koreans.

Hillary Clinton manages to wonder into the fray right away accusing the Nigerian leadership (hmm, how convenient) and tying in the tying in the UnderBomber.

BTW, here is a map of who has oil in the world where countries are drawn in proportion to how much oil they have.

Completely off topic but Nigeria are currently losing 1-0 to Ghana in the semi-final of the African Cup of Nations. 40 minutes to go.
