no congratulations for a country that finally voted for a guy that has a 3 digit IQ??

:pint:

It wasn't just a win some records were set.

Obama received the most popular votes as a Dem since 1964.
The Dems had back to back wins in the Congress, the last time that happened appears to be the 30s.
We have the largest Democratic controlled Congress in some time.

Back in 2000 Bush was handed the election and called it a mandate. Obama won with a clear majority of the popular vote. I don't expect him to call this a Democratic mandate but be for the country.

Of course Rove's plan for a 100 year Republican rule met it's quick end.

I know some of you were following the Al Franken vs Norm Coleman election here in Minnesota. As it stands right now the difference is Norm up by 1,200 votes. In MN if the votes are less then 1/2 of 1% between the 2 candidates an automatic recount occurs. It appears that recount will naturally occurr so we don't have a clear winner yet. (Though personally I'd love to see Bill O'Reilly have to say Senator Franken.)

Congrats! And it's about time!

Unfortunately, he just inherited a "bag of hammers" for an economy. He'll need all three of those digits to fix it.

Oh, and McCain's concession speech was very classy and I think he said all the right things. It's too bad he didn't win in 2000 against that imbecile Bush.

But I thought Fluffy guaranteed Republicans would steal the election :?:

Anyhow, congrats dems and congrats Obama. I hope Obama doesn't become Pelosi-like in the White House.

and he is the type of man who actually USES his intelligence instead of being on vacation most of the time

I saw both speeches and agree - McCain was great! he should have shown this side of himself (which I knew was there) during the campaign. If he had (and not have picked palin) the race would have been very tight indeed

how about a 100 million year sentence in hell for rove

I think this is cool:

Jubilation at Obama's Kenyan home

Soon after the press conference ended, members of Kenya's state security team ushered people out of the compound.

And just outside the main compound, 20 teams of technicians from the Kenya Power and Lighting Company were preparing to lay down power lines to the compound.

The Obama family can expect to have electricity installed within a few days, the company says.

It seems change has come not just to the US and the White House, but to the simple and sleepy village of Kogelo as well.

Seems like change they can not only believe in, but can now see, even at night. :-)

Hehehe... congratulations. :pint: (Brooklyn Lager)

I have my concerns about Mr. Obama but he was by far the better option. On top of that, even Mr. McCain would have been a vast improvement over the current regime so Obama should do OK. He has been left with a *huge* mess to clean up though.

I had my concerns about that too. I still think if it had come down to the decision in one state again, McCain would have won. The voting system in your country is open to abuse, as has been shown in recent elections. That does not instil confidence. Especially if you're as paranoid as I am. :-D

Between Obama and Biden I will agree. Their collective IQ = 100. 8)

Indeed and I'm delighted about that but it's tempered with caution. I was one of the mugs who was delighted when Tony Blair won in 1997 (though I didn't vote for him) and look how that ended up.

And I agree that John McCain was very gracious.

Let's hope the scary Mrs. Palin fades into obscurity.

Does anyone else appreciate the satirical representation of Kirk from The Enemy Within?

I'm encouraged by his attitude to actually WORK instead of being on vacation all the time

he's already getting his staff together, not wasting time at all.....I don't expect miracles, i just want the man to earn his living and judging by how well thought out his campaign was, he's a man that really does THINK.

Brooklyn Lager -

Obama was bought and paid for buy every body from Iran, Germany, China, Spain, Hollywood and Washington Liberals and the DNC. These people groomed him and raised him like the Anti-Christ himself. This is a man with limited state government experience voting against protecting life and lowering taxes. He was elected as a senator in the US Congress where he has no accomplishments to his credit. He is now the President Elect of the greatest power in the world. He tells lies, flip-flops on decisions and has plans to tax anybody he can to gain more power for the leftist socialist wing. This person has sold his soul to reach power. His wife is a known bigot and he has known ties to terrorists. Africa and not the USA is first in his religious views. He was elected to spread the wealth but more importantly he was elected because he is black. That alone is racist. I only wish that the Republicans or some other party could have seen this hateful liberal election machine from around the world coming and combated it with success. It is clear that the Presidency of the USA is up for sale to the highest bidder. BO should have kept his promise when he said that he would take public financing (which is limiting). He revoked that promise and took private funding without disclosing his donors. Be afraid. Be very afraid of the Anti-Christ. Thank God that the Liberals do not have a Super Majority in Congress. I hope and pray that Obama survives his 4 year term. If he was to fall to an assassin’s bullet it would set race relations back, way back in this country. That's what you get when you vote skin color instead of experience and fortitude. I only hope that somebody can produce a real statesman that can really lead this country no matter what party he or she may represent. BO aint it and if 9/11 happened on his watch we would be negotiating ourselves into slavery to terrorism and not defending our land thus, leaving the USA weak and vulnerable. Just ask our Armed Forces which protect your right to vote, express yourself or act totally stupid by burning the American flag while they die for you in a foreign lands. So, I wish the best for our country and I truly hope that President Obama will govern for the people and not the special interests. That is what W did. It aint popular but it is right! I will pray for my new Commander and Chief. 8)

Here are the Big Name donors to the Obama campaign. All contributions over $200 must be reported by law. Unsurprisingly many are the same as the largest contributators to McCain -- Goldman Sachs and

This is a man with limited state government experience
Actually he has more government experience than the last President from Illinois.

voting against protecting life
That the Republicans want to protect life is nothing less than politics of divisiveness. The last time the Federal Republicans broke out a pro-life bill was under Clinton. In the last 8 years there has been 8 years of Republican control of the Judicial and Presidential branches and 6 consectutive years of the Legislature. If the Republicans truly, truly cared about protecting life there wouldn't have been a more perfect time they owned the whole government. Yet they did bupkiss. Why? Because the RNC does not care either. They know it gets people to vote against their self interest and for their party.

Obama did sponsor a bill to protect pregnant women and unborn children from lead exposure, for example. The so called pro-life Republicans vetoed against protecting life from defects due to posioning and pollution. So clearly there is some care for the unborn and protecting life.

and lowering taxes.
Borrow and spend doubling the deficit Republican or pay as you go liberal? Out of the two the Dems are actually more fiscally conservative. So yes it's time to pay the bills and pass less indebtedness to our children.

He was elected as a senator in the US Congress where he has no accomplishments to his credit.
I suppose if you discount sponoring bills such as increasing benefits for low income veterans or increasing notification of sexual offenders, or you might hate and open and accessible government.

He tells lies, flip-flops on decisions
Might as well call it the Flip-Flop Express There's even comparison videos

tax anybody he can to gain more power for the leftist socialist wing.
Have you paid attention? The Republican President has created the largest spending out of any President. He has the largest government out of any President. He is having the US government buy banks. Socialism for the wealthy is part of the Bush legacy.

He was elected to spread the wealth but more importantly he was elected because he is black. That alone is racist.
Someone bitter a bit that a positive message could actually work?

BO aint it and if 9/11 happened on his watch we would be negotiating ourselves into slavery to terrorism and not defending our land thus, leaving the USA weak and vulnerable. Just ask our Armed Forces ..
We did. Early polls are showing around 52% voting for McCain the lowest Republican Presidental vote from the military.

It is clear that the Presidency of the USA is up for sale to the highest bidder.
About time Republicans started wising up to this fact.

BO aint it and if 9/11 happened on his watch we would be negotiating ourselves into slavery to terrorism and not defending our land thus, leaving the USA weak and vulnerable.
Why because he might have negotiated the turn over of Osama to the USA instead of refusing to even consider it as Bush had done?

express yourself or act totally stupid by burning the American flag
Strangely I bought a brand new American flag and hung it on my house today.

I truly hope that President Obama will govern for the people and not the special interests. That is what W did.
Hey it appears we agree W did feed the special interests monsters. Probably one good reason the Dems won back to back elections for the first time in 70 years and a more popular vote for President than in the last 50 years.

faethor

We have two different truths/views. That's okay. I only want real governing for the people no matter which party provides the candidate. I don't think Obama or McCain is the answer and there are many problems to tackle since we have gotten so far away from the Constitution. I would love to vote for the Constitution Party if they could win. I think I will for the next election. Peace. 8)

Mr Bush and his murderous regime demonstrated how pro-life they are by bombing seven shades of sh1te out if life wherever they went.

Pro-life my hairy, Scotch arse.

Oh, and if you don't want to have an abortion, may I suggest you do something a wee bit radical and 'out there' like not having an abortion? Crazy idea, I know but no one is forcing anyone else to have an abortion.
If, for example, a member of my family was raped and became pregnant and wanted to terminate that pregnancy, they would have my 100% support.
And who the f*ck are you or anyone else to interfere with that?

I've yet to meet a so-called 'pro-life' idiot who doesn't support the death penalty and bombing foreign countries.
Hypocritical arseholes, to a man who'd happily end life when it suits them. (and they usually are men too )

Sorry for ranting but the ignorance on this subject infuriates me.

No.

I mean, is it so hard to vote for a decent president?
There are app. 300million ppl in the US, so there should be thousands of persons who are very capable for the job.

You get congratulations when your prez has done a great job to get the economy up, get the foreign relations right and things like that.
