When Is It OK To Shoot A Cop? Flyer at Phoenix ONOWS

Wow, that's pretty crazy. But no where near as crazy as some of those right wing anti-government militias who dream about toppling the government by force.

And if it gets to that point then we will find that there are a lot more people with guns than there are cops - and that's when the troops come in but ... will American troops kill Americans? Kent State? Yeah, probably, but then they will have to go home to their families and it can be awkward. Not to worry. That's why Canada and the US have an agreement that enables them to use each others' troops in such cases.

Now, the BIG question will be - if it comes to running street battles with cops shooting at protesters and protesters shooting back, will Syria demand a no fly zone to stop the government from killing (more) of its own people?

We have no idea where this document comes from. It may actually come from some of these militias. It's just some paper that was found - anyone could have printed it, anyone could have handed it out (or just left it about). It could have been printed by the police to discredit the movement, it could have been written by a government think tank to move against gun owners, it could have been written by some corporate hack or bankers group to undermine OWS.

Of course, if it was printed on modern equipment of less than 5 years vintage or so then the serial number of the printer will already be known as printers leave identifying information instegonated into the printout (I can't check the spelling on that word since it seems to have either been memory holed or it never existed but you can look up "steganography") and may even include computer ID and author information. Apparently the authorities don't know this or the author defeated these measures, or ... a different option.

You mean like the 2nd amendment allows?

So, are you arguing against Dammy?
Well, that is what I was kinda implying in my first statement. If it's OK for the right wingers to fear the government and prepare for a showdown, why is it wrong for anyone else?

Back, back to your earlier post Fluffy, fact is we don't even know if this is at all true - this letter may not even exist, this article simply takes the police's word on it. As for printer steganography, interesting stuff. Just researched it and it seems that color lasers dating back to the 1990s have had that built in, mostly to deter counter fitters. Not sure it applies to black and white printers as they seem to rely on the low contrast of yellow on white.

@Glaucus,
the "yellow" one is the only method that I know of but almost all inkjets these days have black AND three colour cartridges it is conceivable (though I haven't direct evidence) that this technology would still apply. However, I do know that there is active research into steganography for printers and the yellow dots aren't the only method available. While the first motivation was that colour printers were getting too good and making believable currency too easy, subsequently law enforcement became quite interested because of things like ransom notes, "manifestos", and other sorts of evidentiary document that could be linked to a suspect. The old typewritten note could be matched to the imperfections of the typewriter hammers, for example, looking for unique chips and dents from occasional hammer collisions. I honestly can't say with any authority how far this does or doesn't go and printer manufacturers are reluctant about taking about the subject. I suspect that if the FBI or NSA wants it, then it's there - and I suspect that they do want it.
