White vs black masks the real problem

The real problem isn't white vs black, it is those with English heritage vs the rest of us! I stand in solidarity with my African brothers as my ancestors received equally bad treatment by England and its settlement in the new world.

The Irish slave trade was just one piece of the puzzle. England tried to exterminate all Irish people.

The discrimination and oppression did not stop when the Irish were brought to the USA. The truth should come out. White is not the problem, those with English ancestry is the problem.

So my question to you Fluffy, where are your ancestors from? From now on we should focus on the true barbarians, who are the English. Stop whitewashing history and hiding behind "evil white people" when it is specifically the English.

The reality is the USA has a long rich history of racial discrimination. The Native Americans were hated, so were Blacks, Jews, Swedish, Irish, Polish, Mexicans, etc. Within our society today there still exists discriminations.

Flippant? You think I take the extermination of 1.5 million of my ancestors by England is something to be taken lightly? The Irish are being persecuted to this day. Discrimination continues to this day.

It turns out I’m not alone. British-born journalist Brendan O’Neill regularly receives “Paddy-bashing’” abuse for simply having an Irish surname and occasionally speaking out against “Catholic-bashing”.

This Saturday Liverpool’s Irish community had planned to march against racism. The event is organised by the James Larkin Society with the hope of countering the worrying rise in far-right activity targeting Muslims, trade unionists and Irish republican groups living in the north of England.

Outraged by the prospect the North West Infidels have called for their own protest billed as “Stop the IRA march in Liverpool”, despite the event having nothing to do with the IRA.

The poster in red, white and blue boldly declares: “Over the past several years the city of liverpool and north west england has seen the rise of anti-British feeling projected on them by immigrant families from the republic of Ireland.”

The rhetoric is laughable, but it’s being backed up with physical force.

So my question to you Fluffy, where are your ancestors from?

My mother is from Norden in Germany, Lower Saxony where the Saxons came from who, with their neighbours the Angles, invaded Southern Britain when the Roman Empire collapsed.

My Father is from the Midlands in the UK, the area that was once more or less the Kingdom of Mercia at which time the Celtic Britons had mostly been enslaved or driven in to Wales, their last stronghold. In the late 800s Mercia was invaded by the Vikings.
In 1066 the Normans of France invaded the South and then pushed up through England largely replacing the nobility.

The upshot of all that is - I'm white. Just plain old white.

I'm well aware of the Irish slaves and I'm well aware of the British prejudicial attitudes towards the Irish (but not only the Irish) during at least the 70s and early 80s when I lived there. The British have a long history of war (as does Europe) between tribes speaking different languages. All of Europe is pretty much white though there are racial differences discernible but with the amount of travel that has occurred it is pretty smeared out and you only really see identifiable looking populations in more isolated villages. What we do tell each other apart by mostly is language and accent.

The Irish are the people that live on an Island that has partially managed to resist English conquest - embarrassing for such a small and nearby island and the nobility that lost holdings to the revolution and their subservient populations still bear the grudge.

However, the story in the US is much different for the Irish. The early Irish slaves were able to integrate much more easily than the black ones ... because they were white. Their children raised in the US would have local accents and beyond that there wouldn't have been much to distinguish them from the rest of the locals except their insistence on claiming Irishness. Children of mixed Irish and non Irish ancestry would have easily integrated invisibly.

This is not the case for blacks who, even after generations, even of mixed parentage, remain colour coded as black if the melanin gene carries through. Obama is as much black as he is white by parentage but he's still "black". The English, Germans, Italians, Jews, and the Irish can all blend in to "white" and can intermarry and the heritage becomes pretty much invisible - but not so blacks.

Even among blacks there is favouritism towards light skinned blacks. There is favouritism towards beauty in all cultures and in almost all cultures a lighter skin is deemed more beautiful. In the land of the whites the Nobility would plaster themselves with powder to make their faces even whiter as a sign of their status. Blondes have more fun and the extreme, almost translucent paleness of some redheads is supernaturally compelling.

The idea of tanning as a status symbol is pretty recent.

about 50 years after these signs that read, "Dogs and Irish not allowed" and other similar sentiments we had JF Kennedy elected as President. Even then it was shocking to people that a CATHOLIC (oh the Horror!) and Irish fellow was President.

It took Another half century before a 50% White/ 50% Black President was elected and the racists have been on a racist rant the entire time.

Before he was ruined by the Iraq debacle I would have considered Powell a good choice as President but i guarantee you HE would have gotten his share of racist rants. The racists can't help themselves. They see dark skin and their knees just jerk.

And when a women gets elected President, believe me she's going to get the same bigoted treatment. She's going to need very tough skin because they are going to call her a whore, ugly, unfeminine, a bitch and so on.

I hope to live to see an American Indian women elected president. THAT should make all the racists get an aneurysm!
